If like us you're in to athletics and you want to see some of the UK's rising stars, head to Loughborough University this weekend for their annual International Athletics Event.
Kukri has three teams taking part, Loughborough University past and present, Scottish Athletics and a British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) select team. With the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games less than 500 days away, athletes will be looking to record qualifying performances. Good luck everyone!
Hailed as the curtain raiser to the athletics season, the Loughborough International has seen many of the UK's finest athletes compete, including Olympic gold medallists such as Sebastian Coe and Jessica Ennis.
Now in its 55th year, it will be one of the first opportunities for athletes to record performances that will put them in the frame for the 2013 IAAF World Championships, taking place in Moscow this summer.
Scotland's Eilidh Child will compete in the 400m hurdles and the 4x400m relay and said: 'It's good to compete as Scotland team and I think we can all feel the excitement building towards Glasgow 2014 with some of the performance being delivered already. This weekend will be my first 400m hurdles outing of the season after a lot of hard work through the winter and indoors. I enjoyed the relay last season. Scotland ran very well as a team that day and hopefully we can do so again and get a qualifying time for the Commonwealth Games.'
The Scottish Athletics Director of Coaching, Stephen Maguire said: 'It's an early season meeting but I am looking forward to being involved for the first time with a Scotland team. For those competing it is not all that often there is that chance to wear a Scotland vest and it will be a real honour for them. We're delighted to wear the Kukri kit and it is nice little angle to the competition that three of the teams involved have the same kit supplier.'
Best of luck to all the athletes competing this weekend!
